Banque Populaire V, a 130 foot long ocean racing trimaran, just set a new world record for circumnavigating the globe in 45 days, 13 hours, 42 minutes, and 13 seconds. They broke the previous record by 2 days, taking the Jules Verne trophy. The average speed for this trip was over 26 knots and they reached as much as 43 knots. That’s smokin’ for a sailboat.
